The paper is dedicated to the task of tree inventory within a forest. Prior to research on forest stands, dynamics of forest biocoenoses and other forest-related work the mapping of trees in a Cartesian coordinate system and entering the data about those trees are needed. Commonly either costly equipment (thousands of US dollars) or the simplest measuring instruments e.g. tapeline or boussole is exploited for this purpose. The latter requires a great deal of time of highly qualified staff. Publicly available GPS or GLONASS cannot be used for the survey, since accuracy of satellite navigators is substantially lower than what is needed — no worse than 30 cm, ideally — 10 cm. The aim of this work was to develop an Android-application, which should be used for the mapping of trees in a Cartesian coordinate system and entering the data about those trees, which allows to validate the results in the field. The application is to reduce time cost (the time spent on the manual mapping of trees). The paper contains 25 pages, 3 chapters, 10 diagrams, 1 tables, 8 sources, 4 appendixes. Key words: tree inventory, mapping, forest, mobile application, Android.
