Morphological Means of the Agent Nouns Derivation: a Semantic Typology

A typological approach to the derivation of agentive nouns is proposed in the thesis. The agentivizing morphemes from the sample of 14 languages were described using the notion of metonymical derivational patterns. The analysis shows that, among other things, the part of speech of the deriving stem and the fact whether the activity is professional or not play a role in the derivation of agentive nouns.
