My research concerns the communicative category of tolerance / intolerance, namely means of expressing tolerant attitude in the Russian mass media texts. Based on my previous research conducted by means of manual qualitative analysis the list of language means and speech means of expressing intolerance was created. Expression of intolerance is understood as lack of tolerance toward a particular social group. Some language means of this list were selected in order to examine their universality in a bigger mass media texts corpus by means of qualitative and quantitative analysis as well. The hypothesis concerning their universality was partially confirmed. Moreover, the research describes towards which social groups intolerance might be expressed in the mass media and by use of which means.
