Teaching Subtitles Technology: an Experimental Research

In this work an educational technology is suggested which is named 'teaching subtitles'. Its main principle is not to include the full text of the soundtrack into the subtitles but provide only words which are difficult for the target auditory supplied with short commentaries in English or Russian. The effectiveness of this technology has been shown with two experiments according to which the audio is processed to a greater extent while watching the video with teaching subtitles in comparison with standard subtitles, and the vocabulary gain shows great increase.
