Educational Programme: Philosophy (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2018

The thesis is conceived as transition from epistemological research of sociology of Pierre Bourdieu, its foundations and philosophical origin to research in the domain of empirical sociology on the basis of Bourdieu’s methods and ideas. Socioanalysis of philosophy aspires to link stuff and structure of a philosophical doctrine with social circumstances of its emergence that is – with a trajectory of its author in the field of philosophy and in the social space in whole. This analysis is not an attempt of “critique” or “disclosure” of philosophy but a study of the social conditions of its possibility and also – conditions of applying philosophical ideas in sociology. The subject of the research is the philosophy of Alain Badiou that is his trajectory in the field of philosophy in France of the 1960s. The methodological basis is Bourdieu’s research, in particular his work “The political ontology of Martin Heidegger” which should be regarded as a program of research of any field of philosophy. The research attempts to reconstruct the structure and the dynamic of French field of philosophy in the mid-twentieth century, of those space of possibilities in which – that is, thanks to which and against which – Badiou’s doctrine was accomplished. That makes it possible to reconstruct his individual trajectory in this field by indirect means and therefore to understand the social genesis and social conditionality of his ideas.
