Quality And Safety Management Of Medical Practice
2018
Quality and safety problems of medical activities have a significant impact on the entire healthcare system and are becoming more prominent in recent studies. Health organizers try to apply different systems to manage the quality and safety of medical activities in practice and report on the results in various areas of their organizations.

There are actual definitions of quality and safety from the author's point of view, in which he says that prolonging the patient's life, quality of prolonged life and the absence of preventable harm to the patient are key. The author emphasises that the achievement of these benchmarks in the medical organization at the moment can be judged only by indirect indicators, which the organization must implement by itself.

The author also looks at quality management systems and safety management systems in both widely used and less used systems. After the analysis of these systems, an integrated system of quality management and safety of medical activities is proposed.

It combines three types of components (principles, requirements and tools) used in the systems examined.

In-depth interviews with doctors are conducted. Their opinion is examined with regard to feasibility of the components of the integrated system to influence the quality and safety of medical activities in the understanding of these parameters proposed.

After the interview a proposal is made for implementation of the recommended integrated system, followed by certification of those systems which requirements were used to create the integrated system.
