Data Quality Monitoring System in the Large Hadron Collider

Student: Sivtsov Aleksandr

Supervisor: Andrey Ustyuzhanin

Faculty: Faculty of Computer Science

Educational Programme: System and Software Engineering (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2018

Within the framework of the graduation qualification work on the topic “Data quality monitoring system in the Large Hadron Collider”, the data of the LHCb experiment were studied, which is aimed at studying the properties of elementary particles, as well as the characteristics of their interactions, aspects of modern physics, both within the standard model and behind it limits, and also analyzed and implemented methods to increase the accessibility and intuitive human-machine interface. The tasks were to filter the data sets that were not suitable for research. Due to the fact that the decision to mark collected data is taken by the researcher who uses the classifier as a recommendation system, it is necessary to identify a set of characteristics that affect the decision of the classifying algorithm. In addition, in order to create comfortable conditions for researchers to perform assessments of large information arrays, the human-machine interface was modernized, and methods for increasing the availability of the user interface were analyzed and implemented. Based on the results of the work carried out, the application has been modernized, which makes it possible to analyze and classify the experimental data.
