Shalamov’s prose is usually treated with regard to his theory of new prose (‘novaya prosa’) and analyzed due to Shalamov’s own literary theory. This study attempts to describe poetics of body image represented by Shalamov’s “Kolyma Tales”. Close reading of three stories “Domino”, “Sherry-Brendy”, “Sentensia” focusing on body, comparing its poetics with body concept of Solzhenitsyn’s prose and searching for LEF’s impact in Shalamov’s writing enable to include Shalamov to the history of literature, specifically the history of modern literature.
