Student: Larbi-ampofo Augustine akoto

Supervisor: Dmitry Alexandrov

Faculty: Faculty of Computer Science

Educational Programme: System and Software Engineering (Master)

Final Grade: 7

Year of Graduation: 2018

Augmented Reality technology has become a complete renaissance in the way we approach technology; by augmenting the real world with information that appears to be there but really isn’t, Augmented Reality (AR) provides new possibilities for various fields. Technological evolution has seen us through the mobile device; and what we now want to embrace is what is popularly known as computer vision; the ability to see the world for what it is - as a scene, and see the elements within it. Now once you can achieve that, information can be relayed very cleverly. Although AR is mostly applied in gaming industries and frequently applied in educational environments, the value and possibilities that AR presents, hasn’t been completely explored. Also, mobile application developers and users of AR applications may be accustomed to various facets of augmented reality technology, which may just be a scratch on the surface as compared to the potential benefits. In order to aid in overcoming these challenges, this academic piece of literature will delve into how useful AR technology can be even more useful to the world and also explore the inner workings of this relatively new emergent technology that is going to revolutionize the future of technological application in the lives of man.
