In addition, the study involves and analyzes the most significant samples of the genre (both European and Russian). The influence of these texts on the methodology applied by Vyazemsky is tracked in the work, as well as its evolution with the example of Vyazemsky's earlier attempts in this genre. Further in the work the poetics of “Fonvizin" is analyzed in detail, including its notion apparatus, its narrative structure and the principles of material selection. Finally, this paper tries to explain the pragmatics of "Fonvizin", referring to an unusual history of the text. The paper shows the importance of Fonvizin's biography for building the life program of the author himself. The study suggests a new interpretation of the position of the biographer in Vyazemsky's monograph.
