Profiling of Private Investors in the Russian Market

Investment activity is one of the most important part of the life of modern Russian society. But in the case of the strong data closeness, there are practically no studies regarding the profile of private investors and understanding of their "portrait" and risk profile, and the strategy they use. It is the problem of the lack of a clear understanding the profile of a modern private investor in the Russian market been raised in this study. The purpose of this study is to analyze private investors in Russia and identify the main profiles of these investors. To achieve this goal, the work was divided into several parts: In the first part of the work, a median portrait of a private investor was drawn up based on the instruments of descriptive statistics The second part analyzes of the factors that influence the probability of opening a brokerage account by using machine learning tools. Finally, the third part is devoted to the analysis of factors that affect the profitability of investors. A classical multi-factor regression model is used to solve this problem.
