Online Roof Designer

This paper is dedicated to creation of online tool for designing a roof for a cottage house with an annex. Nowadays, a lot of people want to build their own country house or cottage. That requires designing construction of the building and its roof in particular. However, if they not feel comfortable with hiring a civil designer or even with installation and usage of complicated software, they need a tool which is easy to use, and which provides all necessary data for construction workers to implement a house owner’s ideas. As opposed to analogues our tool provides both computation of work materials and 3d visualization for a roof of a house with an annex. The tool can be accessed online which requires no installation. The tool takes into account load from wind and snow pressure, as addition to pressure of roof’s own weight of rafters. All computations are made according to building regulations. The paper contains 38 pages, 3 chapters, 13 diagrams, 8 tables, 38 sources, 4 appendixes. Key words: roofs, roof design, cottage, Web application, house with an annex, rafters.
