The Relation Between the Size of Educational Organization and its Educational Results in the Area of General Education at the Present Stage

The aim of this work is to find the interrelation between the school size estimated by the number of its students, and the level of proficiency of 9th graders, as well as the relation between the school size and the diversity of its programs of extended education within the establishments of basic general education. The work describes the results of foreign and Russian researches on optimal size of schools; it mentions the researches on economic efficiency of ‘economies of scale’ business model in educational establishments. The work reviews the practical approaches towards the research of interrelation between the school size and the level of proficiency of its students, showing both positive and negative dependence, as well as its absence. The graduation thesis is the research based on the data from open sources, during which the comparative analysis was performed and included statistical methods of data analysis by key indicators which were defined during the theoretical review. The results were obtained basing on the empiric study, that may be compared to the foreign analogues, using correlation methods of analysis, we developed the model of interrelation between the school size and the level of proficiency of 9th graders, as well as the diversity of its programs of extended education within the establishments of basic general education. The results of this research allow to estimate and prove by empiric data the effects of reorganization of schools of Central Administrative District of Moscow in comparison with school of Saint-Petersburg, where school reorganization has not taken place. The results of the research have practical significance for managers and workers of education authorities, who are responsible for management decision-making aimed at improving of education quality and reorganization of education establishments.
