The Conservative Strategy and the Role of President Trump in its Design in the Mid – term Congressional Elections in 2018

In 2018, on the eve of the midterm elections, conservatives were faced with the danger of losing key positions in Congress. The outcome of the elections will be an indicator of public confidence in President. The goal of the study is to find out what assessment of President Trump’s participation in midterm elections in 2018 is given by representatives of each type of modern American conservatism.

The theoretical frame of this research is typology of conservatism of Melvil. The method of this study is qualitative content analysis.

The following results were obtained according this research. In the interpretation of traditionalists, D. Trump is a positive political figure. On this regard, Republicans should join forces with the President, focusing on economic and immigration policies. According to libertarists, D. Trump is a strong political figure and charismatic leader. The key focus of the Republican strategy is struggle against negative agitation against the President. According to neoconservatives, D. Trump is a negative person who implements the wrong political course. On this basis, Republicans should carry out an independent Election campaign.
