Under the conditions of transformation of the social system of Russian society, the mechanisms of sociocultural continuity, reforming the system of education and upbringing, the process of adapting young people, finding socially acceptable and optimal forms of behavior, self-affirmation and self-realization is complicated. There are problems of formation of civic culture of the younger generation in our country. Analysis of the state of political culture of students, identifying factors and contradictions that influence its formation, are of practical importance for the development of programs and mechanisms to bring it in line with the requirements of civil society and the rule of law. In the course of a sociological survey, a survey was conducted, which allows to identify the factors that influence the civic culture of students and to identify the main problems of its development in modern conditions. This analysis, which was used in the study, led to the conclusion that the mechanisms of education and the formation of a citizen who is actively involved in society, who realizes his knowledge, skills and abilities for the development of civil society in Russia, are imperfect. In today's political life in Russia, there is a lack of formalism and immaturity of civic culture.
