The Higher Education Institution Faculty Social Capital Assessment

The dissertation contains results of a research of the social capital phenomenon in relation to the Russian higher education. Theoretical generalization of initial and modern interpretations of the definition "social capital" is presented. Importance of estimating of this essence in management of educational and scientific activity of a higher educational institution faculty is proved. The initial assessment technique of the social capital for both certain teachers, and structural division of higher education institution in general is described. Based on four departments of one of the largest Russian higher education institutions the empirical research and measurement of the current level of the individual and group social capital is performed and the analysis of the revealed regularities is carried out. Proofs of interdependence of some key performance indicators of departments activity and level of their social capital are presented. Research materials can be recommended for acquaintance to experts in management of education, to heads of higher educational institutions and separate structural divisions and also to experts in sociology, psychology and to all who are interested in opportunities of influence of the social capital on effectiveness of educational and other public services.
