As the available data says, Moscow adolescents have a huge variability of the offered cultural practices, they also have a lot of financial and time resources and a high mobility level. But there is a common knowledge that even teens that can be called innovative and pro-active still prefer quite a narrow range of cultural practices and most of the time they prefer to spend time at home, namely surfing social networks, and we still don’t know why. The main purpose of this work is to not only to do the general study of the cultural consumption of Moscow teenagers, but also to study deep meanings put by the adolescents into various cultural practices. For that we have done 11 in-depth interviews with adolescents aged 14-18, studying at top-5 Moscow schools. In this paper it will be shown how actually active is teenagers' cultural consumption and how it is connected with the transitive nature of the modern society.
