After the Cold War, civil wars became the object of close attention and study. Now the events in Syria are becoming the most relevant object for scientific study. The conflict has been going on for eight years in Syria, during which time the country was divided between insurgents, terrorist groups and government troops. The Middle East is the most striking example of the confrontation not only of the great powers but also of the states of this particular region. This is due to the struggle for strengthening their own positions in the rivalry for regional domination (Iran, Saudi Arabia), the desire to actively influence world politics through the support of various radical or nationalist organizations or by playing a "drop" in the international market of resources. This study examines the role of factors that can affect the duration of the war in the Syrian Arab Republic. The focus is on the political aspect of the factors, namely the participation of third parties (world and regional powers) as well as their reactions and actions aimed at resolving the civil war in Syria.
