Types and Functions of Diasporas. Kyrgyz Communities in Moscow

After the Soviet Union crash, there is the first generation of people who really differentiate Kyrgyzstan and Russia as different countries. For the previous generation for a long time, it was the same country. For last time Kyrgyz communities in Russia were identified as a transnational community with intensive border crossing and main purpose labor migration in Russian Federation. But during the last 28 years 600000 Kyrgyzstani received Russian citizenship, and already the second generation of diaspora started to accrue The focus of the study is the Kyrgyz diaspora in Moscow. The subject of the study are the types of organizations of the diaspora. The research objective is the functions of diaspora organizations for Kyrgyzstan and Moscow. For the empirical research data collection were perform in the form of interviews, observation and active participation. For the data analysis was performed a comparative analysis, content analysis. The research question is that institutional diaspora organizations, compatriot communities and umbrella organizations have different functions for Kyrgyzstan and Moscow. Compatriot communities focus mainly on functions related to Kyrgyzstan, and umbrella organizations focus on functions related to Moscow. Institutional organizations of the diaspora have the greatest characteristics of transnational communities and perform functions in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation.
