Year of Graduation: 2019

This qualification thesis proposes an approach to describe political culture of XVIth century France via ‘Six books of a Commonweale’ by Jean Bodin in russian language. In Russian-speaking context this Bodin’s treatise is underexplored: ‘Six books of a Commonweale’ has never been translated into Russian. Making a panoramic overview on previous research tradition, we would show the place of ‘Six books of a Commonweale’ in the context mentioned above. On the one hand, by translating and contextualizing the first book out of six in Russian-speaking tradition. On the other hand, by tracing of the history of the concept ‘république’ in XVI century we suggest rethinking the polemics on the State of XVI century France.
