Finished Goods Inventory Management in Retail

Abstract This project describes a proposed study that will examine the ways to improve inventory management quality in retail company. The main method will be the case study. Based on the analysis of the company documentary and logistic processes, practical recommendations will be suggested to improve inventory management of the retail company. Introduction: Background. Nowadays, when a lot of big companies compete with each other on different markets, sensible inventory management give company auxiliary facility to use more funds in the present. Especially, this become more important when stable market was formed long time ago and has clearly determined big participants. This issue has become studied by numerous experts such as Dr. Padmanava Samanta, Mackie Johnson, Alain Fares, Dr. Volker Trauzettel,Victor Sergeev, Ivan Ilyashevich, James R. Stock, Douglas M. Lambert. Sterligova Alla Keeping optimized level of stock and using methods for its correct managing are necessary conditions for the success of every retail company. Problem statement. The main aim of this project will be to improve inventory management of retail company. To achieve this goal next steps will be established: • To make a review on the science literature on this topic in order to find a general approach to the problem of optimization inventory management of retail compony and current models which are used for inventory management in big retail companies to identify modern approaches of calculating stock; • To analyze the company’s activity, to find the hidden problems of the inventory management process, study current process to find places for improving and possible errors in calculating; • To choose models which can be applicable for company’s processes through comparing results of target stock with historic dates and other criteria; • To evaluate economic output from applying new model of inventory management of new updating in the model; • To make a list of recommendations for improving the work of inventory management in the company; Scope. In this project my research will concern international retail alcohol company with its own manufactures in different countries. This project will cover questions connected with inventory management optimization of such type a company. Professional significance. The list of recommendations will be useful for retail company because it could help provide optimum stock level that lead to decreasing of the potential lost sales or reduction of the overstock. This approach helps to reach high financial effectiveness.
