The Implementation of Activity Approach in Teaching Schoolchildren Chinese as the Second Foreign Language (the Example of Moscow Schools)

This diploma paper is devoted to the implementation of activity based approach in teaching Chinese as the second foreign language for secondary school. The object of the research is teaching Chinese as the second foreign language, while the subject is the implementation of activity approach for this process at secondary school. The aim of the research is assessing the degree of this implementation into the process of teaching Chinese at secondary school. Such objectives as finding out the principles of activity approach in teaching foreign languages in accordance with regulations, analyzing the experience of teaching Chinese at Moscow schools, figuring out the preferences of Moscow teachers in choosing teaching approach are set to reach the aim. The following research methods are used in scope of the paper – the analysis of theoretical background, the comparison of teaching methods, the observation of lessons of Chinese at Moscow schools, the survey among teachers and pupils. The first chapter of the work is devoted to the analysis of sources dedicated to the implementation of activity approach in teaching foreign languages. The next chapter presents the experience of teaching Chinese as the second foreign language in Russia, the aims and characteristics of this process. The practical part of the paper is dedicated to the analysis of the process of teaching Chinese as the second foreign language in Moscow schools. It is highlighted in the conclusion that activity approach is widely implemented into the system of Russian education and boosts the acquisition of material with communicative approach.
