Convergence of Industries: M&A study in Technology, Media and Entertainment Sectors

The aim of the study performed in this diploma paper is to evaluate the value creation processes around announcements of mergers and acquisitions for acquirers when target s belong to technology, media and entertainment sectors. The actuality and motivation for this idea comes from recent reports of consulting groups about convergence of industries and blurring of industry lines . To achieve the given goal the combination of event study and regression analysis is used. It allows finding abnormal patterns in returns of stock prices and taking a close look at determinants that may affect them. All in all, this diploma may be v iewed as an extension of prior studies on relatedness between companies.
