The most accurate definition of economics is the rational use of limited resources. Thus, in my work, economics is presented as a means to help universities and companies more effectively select students by adding a psychological test to the interview program. To achieve this, at first, I highlight what units relate to personal qualities: temperament, features of character and motivation with the value system. Then I study models that can convert qualitative character traits of a person into a quantitative personality variable. Some of them were not adequate for research work, but the five-factor model of personality fully meets my requirements. In order to test the obtained variables, I needed real data. I create a survey that helps me collect the necessary data base for further research. Using various methods of econometrics: linear regressions, logit and probit models, I prove that there really is a relationship between personal qualities and academic achievements. Specifically, a positive strong relationship between conscientiousness and academic performance.
