Institutional Regulation of the Literary Processes in the USSR in 1970s-80s: the Work of the Commission for Adventure and Science Fiction of the RFSFR Writers' Union
Cultural Studies
(Bachelor’s programme)
2019
In the qualifying research, we explore the work of the Commission for Adventure and Science Fiction Literature of the RSFSR Union of Writers to understand whether it complied with the censorship rules of that time, forced the writers to do something or helped them. The main hypothesis of the work is the assumption that this Сommission was more a supporting agency than a regulating and controlling one. The study is based on the analysis of archival documents from RGALI. We study what were the goals and objectives of this agency, and also talks about the problems of science fiction literature that were discussed at the meetings. According to the results of the analysis, the hypothesis was confirmed.
