Development and Research of Effective Algorithms for Strip Packing Problem

The master’s thesis is devoted to research of 2D strip packing problem and development of an algorithm for effective packing. The problem has numerous applications including distribution of computing resources between processes, cutting materials onto blanks, project planning. The thesis provides a brief overview of the existing methods and algorithms for solving the problem, describes the developed algorithm and test environment for performing computational experiments and discusses the results of a comparative analysis of algorithms (known and developed) based on the performed experiments.
