Today, what is might be called the second birth of religions is observed around the globe, and Korea plays a special role in this process. It is one of the few countries in East Asia with a predominantly Christian population, and most of them are Protestants. This paper discusses the process of the formation, development and current state of Korean Protestant organizations. Particular attention is paid to the foreign activities of such organizations, their channels of interaction with society, as well as the spread of Christianity on the Korean Peninsula and its comparison with other countries in the region. The main object of this research is the significance of religion in the context of the development of modern society and mass consciousness as a moral and ethical system with a specific ideology instilled in it along with forms of expression. The research also addresses connections of Protestantism with the emergence of so-called New Religious Movements (NRM), in particular the “Chondogyo” and “Church of Unification”. Comprehensive analysis revealed that the Korean Peninsula largely due to a special form of religious syncretism and missionary methods became a birthplace for specific forms of religious associations, whose activities for many years have been closely linked to the political and social sphere of Korean and international society.
