Educational Programme: Cultural Studies (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2019

In this paper, I set out to conceptualize pornography as а part of popular culture and analyze sources of resistance to pornography within this cultural context. The result of this work should be an understanding of pornography as a transgressive phenomenon, which meets symbolic resistance from social groups whose position is determined by the value systems in which they exist. In the first chapter, I analyzed various types of disturbing social reactions to pornography and found in them a common value background, motivated by a broader cultural context. In the second chapter, I analyzed the feminist anti-pornographic agenda as a source of symbolic resistance to pornography.
