The growing dissimilarity in Russia seems even more acute in Moscow. As in most European cities residential segregation is growing with years forming path dependent district infrastructure there. A long run mechanism of inheriting the infrastructure lies in quality of education obtained by the inhabitants of neighborhoods. The goal of the following research is to investigate the contribution of residential segregation pattern in Moscow to segregation between schools by its rating, formed on the quality of education they provide. For this purpose, cross-classification clustering and multilevel modelling will be used. It is anticipated to prove that the higher rating of schools is shifted to more prestigious and prosperous areas that developed during the Soviet era. This creates additional conditions for non-market segregation of children and forces parents to spend more family resources in order to stop this effect. The work will include a review of the literature with theoretical approaches to the understanding of segregation and their practical applications, a description of the data used, as well as their multi-level analysis with the construction of the corresponding model.
