Year of Graduation: 2019

The armed conflicts are happening in different parts of the world every year with a wide range of countries taking part in them. The only way we know about them is media. Journalists travel to the war-torn countries to show the world what is going on there. But during such trips they put their own lives in danger. More than thousand of journalist died since 1992 and most of them during their work in armed conflicts – that’s according to Committee to Protect Journalists. The mechanisms of their security are still fragile nowadays and there is no guarantee that journalists will not be injured. This research is aimed to explore the main ways that will help journalists to be safe when they travel to the war war-torn country. The goal of this work is also to find out whether there are any real opportunities to guarantee the full safety. I will apply quantitative analysis of statistics and literature on war journalism (Cottle S. (2016), Ayres C. (2006), Allan S. (2004) etc.) and qualitative methods to find the alternatives for journalists to feel safer while highlighting the events of war. I hope this study will contribute to the existing knowledge and help the newcomers to the profession understand fully what are the risks and how they can be protected.
