The aim of this thesis is to study the foundations of legal regulation of private international law of the sea and principles of work of its main institutions: the General average, Maritime lien, and salvage of ships and other property at sea. The work consists of an introduction, two chapters, five sections, conclusion and bibliography. The first Chapter examines international and national legal sources of regulation of international private law of the sea. The second Chapter is devoted to a more detailed analysis of individual institutions: General average, maritime lien and salvage of ships and other property at sea. The study has led to the following conclusions: first of all, the sources of legal regulation of the maritime law are extremely diverse, which can sometimes lead to difficulties in regulating the work of its institutes; secondly, all the institutions studied are widely used in practice and are really necessary for commercial navigation; in conclusion, there are some problems with the interpretation and understanding of institutions in the legislation, which requires a clearer explanation of their essence.
