This work is devoted to the management systems of the Japanese manufacturing companies. The subject of the research is the experience of applying national management practices in foreign branches of Japanese manufacturing companies, in particular, in the North-West Federal District of the Russian Federation, and the challenges that companies face during this process. As a key time frame for the study, we identified the period at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries. In our opinion, consideration of the experience of Japanese companies in the implementation of their traditional management systems in the context of production sites in the Russian Federation will help to complement the understanding of the intricacies of this process and in some way simplify the way for local actors in their efforts to implement effective management practices in their own companies.
