Forecasting of License Withdrawal: Case of Russian Universities

There is a clear tendency in Russian system of higher education for a reduction of ineffective institutions which reveals in the news and public discussions. Regularly, the announcements about ban on admission, university’s license or accreditation revocation are unforeseen. Current research focuses on building a model that would be able to produce a correct forecast of legal status change. For this purpose, a large database of performance indicators is collected and then such classificators as random forest, gradient boosting, logistic regression and models dealing with imbalanced nature of the data are compared. Moreover, the research contains the comparison of binary and multiple classification models, and the forecast produced by the best of the studied models.
