The theme of this thesis is "Enhancing Intercultural Competence of FLaCC Students through Role-Play and Case Studies», in which in the framework of intercultural approach to teaching EFL we designed a set of case studies and role-plays to be employed to improve the intercultural competence (IC) of students. The task is to work out a set of interculturally-oriented tasks that will correspond to the principles of intercultural approach in teaching EFL. In this thesis we consistently analyzed the key concepts ("intercultural approach in teaching EFL», "intercultural competence"), conducted a survey among students of the second and third year of «Foreign languages and cross-cultural communication" at HSE to determine the current level of their IC and on the basis of the results we developed case studies and role-plays and also presented the procedure for their usage in the classroom.
