This paper considers the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries as a swing producer in the oil market in the 21st century. The paper examines the studies on the organization’s actions on the oil market in the 20th century, reviews, and concludes on the role of OPEC on the oil market of the 20th century, after which a study is made on the organization’s role in the 21st century.
