Currently, the process of digital transformation penetrates into most social structures, including companies in a wide range of industries. A study conducted in 2018, including a number of our compatriots from Plekhanov University confirmed the need to transform approaches to modeling business processes of companies to successfully complete the process of digital transformation. This means that companies that have successfully completed or are completing a digital transformation have undergone fundamental changes in business processes, production processes, sales and post-sales of the product. The question remains whether the approaches of such companies to project management will change. This affects the methods and approaches used by managers to maintain the competitiveness of organizations. As more and more companies use project management techniques, this affects critical success factors of projects. The problem of this study is the lack of knowledge of the critical success factors of projects of russian companies in the process of digital transformation. Theorists and practitioners continue to debate the nature of the changes and challenges posed by digital transformation. In the present work the main attention is paid to studying the evolution of the critical success factors of projects and development of recommendations for practitioners of project management in terms of digital transformation. The main sources of information are questionnaires and in-depth interviews of project managers of organizations undergoing the process of digital transformation.
