An important problem on the way to an increase in the efficiency of regions in Russian Federation is the increase in the unemployment rate. The paper examines the spatial interactions of regional labor markets, previously divided into 6 groups according to the level of GRP, and examines the influence of key factors on the unemployment rate in the regions of Russia Federation in 2005-2016 years with using different specifications of spatial regression models. As a result of the study, it was found that the region’s unemployment rate can significantly affect the unemployment rate of neighboring regions. To define whether the region is neighboring we used different criteria: borders, geographical distance and industry structure.
