The period of industrial development in South Korea has received considerable attention, due to its unexpectedly rapid growth and success. Therefore the majority of papers about South Korean economy are devoted to economic growth and labor conditions, neglecting the topic of young people being the leading force of industrialization. The present study will evaluate the impact of young people in the industrial development of South Korea and the level of success of the government labor policy since 1948 to present times and try to analyze how the modern Korean labor system has been shaped. To provide a deeper understanding of youth involvement in the economy, government economic policies will be analyzed and compared to existing statistics from both Korean and international organizations’ databases. This data analysis will allow us to advance the knowledge of Korean economic development and give clues to the existing economic issues. Keywords: South Korea, industrialization, economic policy, youth employment
