The Role of Dialects in Contemporary Italy for Teaching Purposes (Conversation Classes of Italian as a Foreign Language)

The current research paper investigates into the role of dialects in contemporary Italy for teaching purposes. Dialects and their relationship with Standard Italian comprise the object of the paper. The subject of the paper is the role of dialects in teaching. The paper is structured as follows: introduction, four chapters, conclusion on each chapter, overall conclusion, bibliography and two appendices. The first three chapters represent the theoretical study of the object and the subject of the paper, and the fourth chapter is a practical part of the research. It verifies the results of the theoretical study and supports practical value of test-based exercises. Appendix 1 presents the test that native speakers from the selected cities had to do, while Appendix 2 contains exercises developed based on the results of the test.
