With the increase of overall life expectancy, as well as with the decrease in mortality and birth rates, the ageing of population is becoming an important issue for many countries, mainly because of increased burden on the pension systems. This research is aiming at finding out the factors, which are influencing the decision of elderly workers to drastically change the position on the labor market after achieving the retirement age. In order to fulfill this aim, the two-year datasets were constructed, based on the RLMS-HSE dataset for 18-year period (from 2000 to 2017) for both men and women. As the part of descriptive analysis, the transition matrices were built, which are showing some useful results for further investigations. The regression analysis contain the binary regression on the individuals (formally on the fact of changing or not changing the occupation), with control of the job and personal characteristics. The results of this research are confirmation of two main hypotheses, which are considering the health, level of education, salary and number of working hours as the most crucial factors of making decision about retirement.
