Nowadays documentary film is developing rapidly: new languages ​​are being introduced into it, for instance, the language of new media. People are increasingly dependent on their gadgets and capture life by them. Such documentation of the surrounding reality by a person is embedded in the documentary film. This is reflected in many projects that have been created in the past 10 years. This work covers the difficulties of searching the topic and reveals genre changes in the history of documentary films. The practical part of the work is to create own documentary film using the elements of the language of new media. Thus there appears a description of the mechanism of creating a documentary film about transformations in the life of the current generation, in which the characters are also a selfie tool for making a film.
