Year of Graduation: 2019

This work is devoted to the study of the impact of competition on the stability of the Russian banking sector. For the study, data on all Russian banks for the period 1 quarter 2014 – 4 quarter 2018 was used. As a result of the study using market power indicators, namely Lerner index, Panzar-Rosse H-statistics and HHI index, it was found that the Russian banking market operates in a monopolistic competition. The result of the assessment of the level of competition for the stability of banks showed that there is no unambiguous positive or negative linear relationship between the two phenomena. Perhaps this dependence has a U-shape, but this is a topic for further research.
