The Analysis of Occupational Choice for University Graduates in Russia: Private vs. Public Sector
The public sector is an important element of the economic system of any state. In many ways, the development of the public sector depends on the competence and literacy of workers, so the problem of attracting talented and motivated young people in the organization of the public sector is very important. Certain transformational processes in the Russian Federation at the end of the 1990s led to a rapid growth of the private sector, and then the institutionalization of new professions, which as a result turned out to be more attractive for employment of university graduates. Moreover, university graduates represent a special group of the population, often with unstable preferences and high expectations. In this regard, it is important to understand which factors (both internal and external) influence the choice of sector for employment. This paper examines the influence of various groups of factors on the probability of employment in the public sector. The basis of the study is a review of foreign and domestic literature, as well as the construction of logistic regression models with subsequent interpretation of the results.
