The article considers the system of adaptation of young civil servants as one of the fundamental personnel technologies. The main hypothesis that the modern civil service in Russia does not have the developed mechanism of professional adaptation of young civil servants was tested.

The aim of the study was to identify the features arising in the process of adaptation of young professionals in the public service and to justify the direction, goals and objectives of their improvement at the present stage.

The study was conducted in the form of an online survey (questionnaire) of 88 young professionals who were adapted in public authorities.

As a result of the study, the directions of improving the system of adaptation of young professionals in public service at various levels were identified.
