Social Conditions of Emerging Market of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Russia

The study raises the question of social conditions which influence the market emerging process until the moment when the state begins to come out with direct regulation. The research object is the Russian market of artificial intelligence technologies as an innovation. One of the main goals was to find out which conditions are specific to innovative emerging markets.

Research proposes a model for analyze the markets for innovative products as an environment for diffusion of innovation and systematization of the conditions for the formation of such markets. Besides political and economic factors, the findings of research emphasize the social embeddedness of the market formation process: a significant role is played by the trust between market participants, and also between them and the state. In addition, the emergence of a new market requires from companies’ efforts to form a specific market culture, primarily reflected in the perception of the product.

One of the most important results of the work is the determination of the specific essence of the AI technologies market offer - a “solution” which consists of a consulting service, an algorithm and data. All three components influence the strategies of companies present in the emerging market. Moreover, the dependence on data, given their growing value for companies, calls into question the very possibility of the continued existence of the market.
