Competitiveness of Japanese Auto Companies in the International Market

Annotation The relevance of the theme determined by sets of factors. In the process of transition to a market in the automotive industry, enterprises face tough entry barriers and high competition. The highest competition in prices and product quality, the need for significant investments, the existence of customs and other barriers, the tightening of environmental requirements, the relatively low profit margin, the increase in raw materials prices - the constant change of these and other factors make the automotive market difficult for new participants and for existing companies. Moreover, in this industry, a characteristic feature was the consolidation of world automotive enterprises, which directly leads to a decrease in the number of independent companies and an obstacle to the formation of new firms. Of these factors can be traced, the need for continuous monitoring of the industry and a comprehensive study of its competitive position, which determines the relevance of the chosen topic. The purpose of this study is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the competitiveness of Japanese auto companies and to draw up a strategy to increase the competitiveness of Japanese automakers in the international market. To achieve this purpose, various techniques, methods and types of analysis will be used, with the help of which will be possible to analyze the current state of the competitive environment in this industry. For example: M. Porter's competitiveness model, competitive intelligence methods, analysis of open data provided by automobile companies, SWOT analysis and others. The results of this work can be essential to identify trends in the future development of the industry, the problematic and strengths of Japanese auto companies and their competitors, which will help develop a methodology for improving the performance of Japanese automakers in the international arena and avoid unnecessary costs.
