Salary Cap Influence on Inequality Rate of NHL Players' Salaries and Salary Budgets of NHL Teams

This paper is focused on the level of inequality of NHL players’ salaries and salary budgets of NHL teams. The main question of the research is the following: do annual salary cap changes influence on the level on inequality of NHL players’ salaries and salary budgets of NHL teams. This framework is actual because KHL will enter salary cap era in the nearest future. This works deals with special features of NHL business, analysis of the papers about inequality in salaries of professional sportsmen. Some regressions which tell us about determinants of NHL player salary were built to solve the main problems of this paper. Regression analysis showed us that salary cap changes influence on players’ salaries inequality. The paper also give possible prediction about salary cap introduction in KHL. Unfortunately, regressions which deal us with inequality of salaries and salary budgets in KHL weren’t built because of lack of information.
