Year of Graduation: 2019

The global gas industry has undergone many changes over the past decades. It was influenced both by the global economic crises and by the uncertainty in the market conditions, and by the political contradictions between countries. The Russian Federation as one of the leaders of the world oil and gas production and hydrocarbon exports production has been influenced by imposed sanctions since 2014. Nevertheless, the emerging domestic LNG production sector is taking confident steps on the international market, offering its products to all key regions: from Europe and countries of the Asia-Pacific region to Latin America. Taking into account that it is impossible to expect an improvement in the geopolitical situation in the near future, Russian LNG companies need to adapt to external pressure and changing market conditions. As a priority area of work for the Yamal LNG project, the largest in the Russian Federation defined the international market. However, in case of fostering a negative scenario, Russian LNG companies can focus on the domestic market, the demand forecast for which has a steady upward trend in the long term until 2035. For the successful development of the domestic LNG production should be made efforts to reduce production and transportation costs and efforts required to ensure the development of science, infrastructure and decreasing price regulation for LNG. The investigation will consider the dynamics of the global LNG market, including the main indicators of world natural gas trade and the analysis of the structure of the LNG market. It will also contain the analysis of domestic LNG projects and identification of priority strategies.
