The last decade has been characterized by an intensive digitalization of the global economy. Companies find it necessary to remake their business processes; this includes the redesign of workplaces. The continuous expansion of digitalized workplaces involves equipping employees with new tools for communication, data storage, analytics, and so on. However, such tools can often lead to information overload, excessive rate of repetitive or simply boring operations, and other job stressors. The main purpose of this exploratory research is to address the challenges of workplace digitalization from the human perspective. Despite the rapid development of digitalized workplaces, attention toward improving their ergonomics and the psychophysiological effects on employees is lacking. We presented a detailed report of the challenges arising from workplace digitalization. This study can be useful for organizations managing the process of digital transformation. It can be especially valuable for HR managers facing employee-related problems in a digital work environment.
