Students' Career Choice Between Private and Public Sectors: the Role of Values and Calling

Career choice between public and private sectors is always actual. Though it is not only important to understand which sector is more popular among students, but also to find out their motivation. With clear understanding of the selection process for the public service it will become possible to create the most effective labour pool of public servants. The present study aimed to determinate factors influencing the career choice of Russian students in favour to public sector. 103 respondents - university students – took part in the survey for this research. 57% of respondents studies social sciences. The methods of linear regression and factorial analysis were implied for analysis of obtained data. In the result of the research the set of characteristics was formed. It describes values of students, who are eager to work in the public sector, career decidedness and presence of calling.
